Check Out The Black Girls Who Sell Hair

Fed of the lacklustre experience you get when you buy hair? Wondering why Black women can’t get the service they deserve considering how much we spend in the hair market? Well don’t worry -there are fantastic Black owned hair brands who are dedicated to serving your needs. With a wide range of extensions on the market, we have curated our own list of Black girls who sell hair.

RUKA Hair

Founded by Tendai Moyo, and Ugo Agbai, Ruka Hair are set to take the hair world by storm. Their aim is to make Black women feel like queens while shopping for hair. They offer ponytails, clip-ins, wigs, closures as well as bundles.

Their hair is sourced ethically from partners based in South East Asia, specifically India and Bangladesh. This hair comes from women who sell on their hair after cutting it and often rely on selling hair as a source of income.

Boho Locs

Boho Locs was founded in 2016 by Lulu Pierre who set up the brand after a traumatic experience with a Brazilian Blowout. She looked around for protective styles but could not find anything that suited her. Then she came across faux locs and fell in love with their natural aesthetic. However, she found the installation process very time consuming and decided to look into finding a much quicker method. That was when crochet locs came to her mind and voila the birth of Boho Locs. They are hand made and aimed at naturalistas  who want natural-looking locs.

This brand was created by Anu Obe as an ode to all black women everywhere to encourage them on their journey to self-love. She specialises in natural kinky hair extensions specially made to blend effortlessly with the beautiful kinky and coily textures of African, Caribbean and mixed hair textures. But she doesn’t stop there with a variety of extensions like, pony tails, clips in, and wefts, she also sells an assortment head wraps, fans and other hair accessories.

Gilliana created the brand Love Gilliana, to provide luxury premium synthetic wigs that look and behave like human hair without the high costs. She prides herself on providing both lace and non-lace wigs so users have the option of changing up their look whenever they please. The ethos is to provide high quality hair at affordable prices, making it more accessible for everyone to look and feel their best.

R.C Hair Solutions was founded by Rebecca in 2018 with over 20 years in the hairdressing industry. She wanted to offer a specialised tailor-made experience for her customers. Hence each client having a 30 minute free consultation which allows her to offer a better service that meets her client’s needs and goals. In addition to hair styling services, she also offer her own hair care range which uses high quality natural ingredients. A force to be reckoned with, R.C Hair Solutions were finalists in the Black Beauty & Sensationnel  2018 Hair Awards in the Avant Garde and Hair Stylist categories.

This brand was created in 2018 by Courtney Daniella Boateng just a week after she graduated. CDB London is an online wig retailer selling ready and easy to wear lace wigs. Courtney created her brand to make buying and wearing wigs an easy, affordable and enjoyable experience for every woman. As a former hairstylist for nearly eight years and wig wearer for seven of those, she knows exactly what her customers need. She works with a team of five young Black women and their mantra is #HairMadeEasy, constantly keeping the lifestyle of the everyday black woman in mind. They offer great wigs with high quality good virgin hair, already customised when they receive it in the post and easy quick tutorials to show them the quick few steps to get it on their head in less than 15 minutes.

Dellahs Hair

This brand is created by Adela, who describes herself as an entrepreneur. She created the brand last year because she was fed up with what was on the market. She started looking for better quality hair and that was when she came across Raw Hair, which is hair directly sourced from donors in Cambodia and not mixed with any synthetics. Dellahs Hair is from a single donor which means each bundle of hair is from a real human being, just like you.
