About Us

It all started when we saw a gap in the market!

brown beauty talk is a beauty platform aimed at Black and Asian women in the UK. It is created by a group of women who are ashamedly passionate about all things beauty. We have been ranked as one of the Top Ten UK Beauty Blogs by Vuelio and also one of the Best Skin Care Blogs by eMediHealth.

The UK market for beauty is valued at over £5 billion. On average Black and Asian women spend around £6 on hair and beauty for every £1 that a white British woman spends. Yet they are not represented in the beauty industry.

Our platform is a space where Black and Asian women can take a few minutes out from their busy and hectic lives to indulge in all things beauty. We connect beauty lovers and enthusiasts with brands that cater to them and we do this through our website, newsletter, Social Media channels and events.

While we appreciate that there are more important things going on in the world, we have created this space so our readers can get lost in the magical world of beauty; whether it is choosing a new lipstick, picking up tips on skincare and reading up about the latest hair brand.

Since we launched in 2013 we have created a very loyal and engaged audience; our last eight events have sold out with a waiting list. Our website averages 100,000 unique views per month, we have 20K Instagram followers and 5,000 on Twitter.

How It All Began

2013

It began as a Twitter hashtag when we saw a gap in the market for a weekly platform for Black and Asian women to come together and discuss beauty issues. We filled that gap with our Sunday #BBT hashtag.

2014

We launched our blog which has raised our profile and established the brand as one of the leaders in the UK scene when it comes to Black and Asian women.

2015

We were featured in Stylist magazine.

2016

We reached 16,000 followers on Instagram.

2017

We were shortlisted for Multimedia Influencer and Best Beauty Influencer for Women of Colour at the Beauty Influencer Awards.

2018

We hosted our first beauty masterclass with Antonia Burrell, EPARA Skincare, Novel Skincare and Good Things.

2020

Listed as one of the Top Ten Beauty Blogs in the UK by Vuelio
