Yardley London is a well-known and trusted brand from my childhood and early adulthood. In fact the brand is almost 400 years old. The House of Yardley was born in England in the mid-seventeenth century, during the reign of King Charles 1. The means by which a young Jonathan Yardley obtained the first royal warrant is now lost in history. I fondly remember as a little girl seeing their powders and perfumes on the vanity table of my grandmother and mother. It was a treat to be given a small splash of one their colognes. However, it’s been years since I can recall seeing a Yardley product on the shop floor of the high street chemist and stores. So it was a pleasant surprise to be given the opportunity to review the Yardley London Energising Peony Hydrating & Enriching Body Lotion.

This lotion has an authentic floral fragrance that the brand has always been known for and it’s very moisturising and it belongs to the Floral Hand and Body Collection. It comes in a sexy curvy pink and white bottle; there is no doubt that this product is totally feminine.

The fragrance is authentically floral, not synthetic as some products can smell. It totally engulfs your senses. This body lotion delivers what it promises. I used it at the end of my day after a warm shower and it truly lifts and soothes my spirit all at the same time. The lotions is rich thick and creamy in consistency but absorbs easily into the skin leaving it soft, silky and sensual. The following morning my skin still looks and feels moisturised. It contains Q10, Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil, rich in anti-oxidant Vitamin E to help combat the signs of ageing.

This which brings me to the only downside of the product for me, as lovely as it is, I can’t help but feel that it’s scent is best suited for a lady of ‘a certain age’. It’s not youthful. Whenever, I use it I feel that I’m using still using my mum’s stuff. That said, Yardley’s fragrances are quintessentially English and will apply to many the world over.

The body lotion comes in a 250ml bottle and RRP on the Yardley London website at £3.99. I’ve been using it every night for the last month and I still have about quarter of the bottle left. I think that’s a very good value for a product that delivers. There’s also a matching Body Wash in a 200ml tube which costs £2.49. Used together, it’s a luxurious way for a lady to start or end her day.
