Kwana Jackson is a blogger and an author. Her latest book, Bounce can be found on amazon. She shared with us the contents of her makeup bag. Describe the items in your makeup bag. I am a fashion and beauty junkie and I think that goes back to my early days of being a fashion designer and even before that being a teen and just coming up in New York as a child of the 80’s. I love colour and glitz and the glamor of makeup. I also love trying new products so my bathroom cabinet (well closet really) is jam packed with products. That said you’d think I’d have some long and drawn out daily routine but I really do keep it simple for every day.

I’m a writer so most of my days are spent with me make up free are with minimal make up as I work from home. My basic everyday face is done with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF20, Clinique Quickliner For Eyes in black/brown, Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara in blackest black and either Smith’s Rosebud Salve on my lips or Clinique Almost Lipstick in black honey. Lastly I usually do a few quick swipes of Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in #4 (deep) used as a blush and overall highlighter (small touches on my brow-bone & chin), giving a quick and easy perk up. I find these products can all be applied in two minutes and give me a fresh polished look without this look of looking heavily made up.

For a bit more finish if I’m going out to dinner with my husband or with friends I may go for more coverage so I’ll apply my Mac Matchmaster Foundation along with the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish to set the look. I adore my set of Sephora Airbrush brushes. They are fantastic for applying foundation and powder and setting your makeup for all night. For an everyday all over brush my Mac 150 has not done me wrong. It was an investment but has lasted for years. As for lips, I’m loving the deeper glossy look of the Clinique Chubby Stick in Richer Raisin to complete the look.

Which is your favourite item in your make up bag and why? Picking a favorite is so hard as I adore each item. I’ll ride the fence here and pick two, the Clinique Quickliner in black/brown and the Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black honey. The Quickliner is soft and smudgy but doesn’t run. It gives an easy but natural eye opener so that I can face the day not looking like an extra from the set of The Walking Dead. The Black Honey Almost lipstick is always a perfect polish. It’s just a hint of colour and has a magical way of complimenting any skin tone. I have not yet found a person that it doesn’t suit.

Where did you get your make up bag and how long have you had it? This make up bag is an oldie but a goodie though I can’t say how long I’ve had it or where I got it. Honestly, it was a giveaway of some sort from a writer’s conference I went to and a perfect fit for all my items. It fits just right on my counter and has a deep opening so even though it’s black it’s still easy to find all my products. Win/win there! I have lots of other makeup bags in my stash but this one became a fast favourite.
