What’s In My Makeup Bag – Karen Bryson
Karen Bryson is an actress who you might remember from Shameless and she is now an ambassador for Premae Skincare's new foundation. She tells us what is in her makeup bag. Describe the items in your makeup bag. The first and probably the most important is my Premae Matifying Mousse Foundation in 14 Prunella. My skin is not great,I have hyper pigmentation marks and I need something with decent coverage that doesn’t look or feel as though I'm caked in makeup. I also couldn’t be without a primer for under my foundation as I tend to get a shiny T-Zone. I use Premae Skincare Harmony Serum, and Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch on my chin area to even out some scarring from my spotty days. I suppose I’m trying to achieve a “I’m not wearing much makeup, I have flawless skin look," that together with Mac Kohl Pencil, for a line close to the top lash with a little Nouveau Lashes Mascara to help define my eyes.
For a more polished red carpet look, I’ll add eyeshadow, I generally tend to buy individual colours rather than palettes, that is something I need to experiment more with - more vivid eye shadow. I use a brow kit from ILAH Brows NS some false lashes from Allure. For contouring, I have a kit from Sleek, but I've just started to use Premae MM Foundation in a darker shade, 15 Rye to define my cheek bones. I use Mac Pro Wear Concealer for under my eyes along with the infamous Ben Nye in Topaz to set and highlight. I also use the Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Nutmeg or Chestnut.
I then use Mac Irridecent Powder to highlight my cheekbones and temples, that with a little blusher (various) but I like blackUP colours also on the top of my cheekbones, not on the apple of my cheek which makes me look weird. And of course depending on the red carpet event or look, a neutral lip or a full on colour to match my outfit. That looks like an awful lot of make up but I do try my hardest to not look as though I’m wearing the entire makeup shop.
What is the favourite item in your make-up bag? My favourite item(s) in my make bag has to be my brushes, I learnt this late on in my make-up journey, but working with various make-up artists when I work on TV, brushes and application is everything. One can achieve various finishes using the right brushes.
Where did you get your make-up bag from? I have two; one just about containing all the make-up listed above and a second which is small but holds the vital bits to top up during an evening/day. I’ve had the big one for a year and the smaller one I got in the sale. Doing this interview has highlighted the fact that I need some new ones…. please don’t judge me!!…….lol!!
