What's in My Make-up Bag - Lynda Daboh
Lynda Daboh is the director of Wonder Communications and also blogs at Wonderlusting where she shares her loves and passions. She took time out to tell us what is in her make-up bag. Describe the items in your make-up bag. Ellis Faas Concealer I absolutely love this makeup range, fantastic packaging that marries style and substance. This is my favourite concealer ever - it's creamy and melts seamlessly into my skin.
Becca Luminous Skin I love this Australian brand - they do makeup to suit all skin colours from the fairest to the darkest. This has SPF25 and doesn't offer any coverage whatsoever but somehow it just makes skin look better and is great on dry skin. In my makeup bag I carry a small amount decanted. My colour has been discontinued so I'm slightly heartbroken about what I'll replace it with when my stash runs out.
Becca Fine Pressed Powder This has been discontinued in UK) - a really finely milled powder that's practically invisible. I don't like heavy makeup and this just finishes the face without looking overdone. Also looks nice when you get it out.
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil This a great budget buy I've used since I started wearing makeup. Someone once told me that there's no point in spending a lot of money on liner products as there isn't much difference between the cheap and expensive brands as they all use the same factory.
RMS Beauty Lip2cheek This is the only blusher I wear. It's organic and gives a natural glow. I've used this nearly every day for the past year and it's nowhere near running out. I do wish RMS did a wider range of complexion colours though.
Benefit They're Real Mascara I don't get very excited about mascara and there was so much hype about this product which I'm always skeptical about. But when I tried it I became a believer! Really enhances my little stubby lashes - it was a magazine freebie too.
YSL Touche Eclat My particular colour (Toffee) has been discontinued in the UK (my perfect products alway seem to be discontinued sob sob) but I found it in Barbados Duty Free. I always check Duty Free abroad. Anyway good for disguising bags (hay fever and insomnia mean I often have excess baggage!) - this is not a concealer but a subtle highlighter.
Sleek Lip 4 Palette I tend to prefer minimal look makeup with a bold lip (and I'm lazy so minimal effort for maximum impact). I recently realised that I had a ridiculous amount of lip products but used the same two or three repeatedly so have set myself a #100lippydays challenge of using ALL of them over 100 days. This palette will do for four days. I've only tried Sleek's lip products and the quality equals many more expensive brands.
PS Love eyeliner (available in Primark) I bought this one lunchtime when I was unexpectedly invited to an evening event and didn't have makeup with me. It's a bargain for £1.50 and works better than other similar products that cost ten times as much. During the summer I have terrible hay fever and often can't do eye makeup but when I do it's a swipe of eyeliner.
Paul & Joe Blotting Powder These are a handbag essential in the summer when skin gets a bit more glowy than usual - re-powdering can get cakey so I use these instead during the day.
Scott Barnes Lip Brush I must have picked this up in the US. Scott is best know for being J-Lo's makeup artist and give her that J-Glow. I like that it's retractable with a lid so won't make a mess.
Real Technique Expert Face Brush The handle fell off within a week of me buying this but I really like the brush head - it blends everything on the face quickly.
Which is your favourite item in your make up bag? This is hard. If pushed my favourite is the Ellis Faas concealer as I love everything about the product from the design to using it.
Where did you get your make up bag and how long have you had it? It's a pencil case from Muji that I've had for years. I like being able to see what's in there immediately through the mesh.
