The Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum is described as ’liquid rose’ and promises to instantly brighten and soften skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines. It also promises a firmer looking complexion and suitable for all skin types. The Velvet Skin Brightening Serum is a potent blend of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and dragon blood among other anti-aging and brightening ingredients.

I have been using the serum twice daily, in the morning and night after toning for the last three weeks and I have already finished the bottle. The serum is packaged in a beautiful frosted glass bottle with a dropper. The dropper dispenser is very generous and you get a good amount of the product. I haven’t experienced any irritation with the product.

The serum is separated into two phases: a clear phase on top and a pink one underneath. Before applying, you have to shake well in order to mix the serum and activate it. I use one and a half drops for my face and neck. The texture is not smooth but you don’t feel any ‘grains’ in it when applying to your skin. Upon application, I noticed how smooth and velvety the serum is and how soft my skin feels afterwards.

The texture of this reminds me of a silicone based primer: very smooth and a little slippery. The serum needs a bit of work, massaging into the skin in order to get it fully absorbed. I don’t feel like it adds any moisture/hydration to my skin but I noticed it instantly leaves my skin more radiant. It doesn’t clog pores. It doesn’t really have a strong scent, it is a pleasant one and it doesn’t linger too.

I have been using the serum both morning and night layering it underneath creams and it works really well. During the day, it looks nice with a healthy glow and I would say the serums works well with my day cream to help maintain moisture levels through the day.

Over the weeks I have been using this product I would not say I have seen a massive improvement in my skin’s brightenness but I do like how my skin looks. I would say the biggest improvement is how velvety it leaves my skin. I have only noticed a little improvement in dark spots appearance reduced but it’s not a huge difference.

The bottle has only lasted me three weeks, using two drops twice a day and seeing this is an expensive serum, I do not think it’s cost effective. Su-Man recommends one drop twice a day but in the first few days of using one drop, I felt like this wasn’t enough so I increased it to one and half.

My skin takes well to dragon blood extract and hyaluronic acid so I knew my skin would love this, however in terms of brightening my skin I think it’s a miss. I am most impressed on how velvety and soft my skin feels and the instant radiance it provides. In terms of long term benefits, I haven’t really seen a huge improvement. I am also really surprised I have finished the serum really quickly but it may be because I used a little more than the recommended dose. It’s a lovely serum but for £90 I was hoping for much more.

Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum is priced at £90.
