SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Shampoo and Masque

I’ve tried several SheaMoisture products over the years so when they began creating products for thinner natural hair, I was overjoyed. Up til then most natural hair products were super rich and heavy which is amazing if you have thick hair prone to dryness but not so good if you have thin normal  (not dry not oily) thin curly hair.

Not long ago, they released their Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil hair range to the UK market. Honey has many health and skincare benefits. I’ve heard it’s quite good for natural hair but I never tried it any of my DIY concoctions. Frankly some things I prefer to leave to the manufacturers.

The Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hair range has six products, which includes the Intensive Hydration Masque, Intensive Hydration Conditioner, Intensive Hydration Shampoo, Hydrate & Design Max Hold Gel, Twist-Defining Custard and Intensive Hydration Leave-In Milk.

I was sent the Shampoo and Masque to try out. Always I rinsed my hair with warm water then applied the Shampoo. I massaged my hair and scalp with the product and then rinsed. Although I enjoyed the fragrance and consistency of the product, it wasn’t a wow. The shampoo cleansed my hair without stripping it but it was not as moisturising as I thought it would be. It was good but not wow.

The masque, on the other hand was great. The texture was thick so I sectioned my hair to apply and ensure all my hair strands were covered. After five minutes, I rinsed out some of the product, detangled my hair, and then rinsed out the remaining product. My hair felt moisturised, bouncy, soft and shiny. It was easy to style with my usual products. Out of the two SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil products, the masque was my favourite.

SheaMoisture Intensive Hydration Shampoo and Intensive Hydration Masque are priced at £8.99 each.
