Ruby Red is an urban apothecary with a natural beauty range which is developed in the UK. They use herbs, seeds and plants rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to improve the skin’s health and appearance. The brand is created by husband and wife team, Martine Burford and Mike Ruby whose ethos is that healthy, radiant skin needs vital nutrients from the outside as well as the inside. Recently they released a brand new range of products that gives you an extra kick during bath time. Reviving Body Cleanser This is a really gentle cleanser which works up into a creamy lather. It contains Coconut, Aloe Vera Leaf, Lime, Red Mandarin, Coriander and Cedarwood which soothes, tones and refreshes the skin. Most of all it does not contain SLS or parabens that irritate or dry your skin. If you have gentle skin then this product would be ideal. I found this product nice enough to use and non-offensive but I did not love it. The smell is pleasant but did not exactly make me stop in my tracks.

Renewal Shea Skin Cream When I opened this pot of goodness I admit I was not exactly thrilled to see a block of shea butter staring back at me. As far as I was concerned my butter blocking days had been over since 2011 and I no longer wished to revisit the days of being plastered with oil. However this was not the case with Ruby Red's Renewal Shea Skin Cream which is an intensive moisturiser that hydrate your skin. The product is hand processed but leaves your skin with a lovely sheen and polish. It contains vitamins A, E, & F and Lemon oil and Honey work together to improve cell renewal.

You do have to work a bit - delving into the cream and massaging it into your hand before you apply it onto your skin. It is so worth it because it is a delight to use. No dry patches and it does not wear off a few hours later. The skin cream is long lasting and is perfect for those elbows, knees and heels.

You can pick up the range from Fortnum & Mason, Planet Organic, John Bell & Croyden and www.ethicalsuperstore.com. As well as the Ruby Red shop, the range is now sold in Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge.
