PMD Personal Microderm
PMD are a company who have produced a microdermabrasion device that can be used in the comfort of your own home, making use of patented technologies such as ‘perfectly calibrated vacuum suction’. Most of us look towards face scrubs and polishes to exfoliate our faces, but generally such products aren’t suited for those with sensitive skin or skin conditions, and for others, the products aren’t that effective. PMD’s Personal Microderm uses the power of technology, rather than chemicals and a never-ending list of ingredients, to help you enjoy a clearer complexion. I was very excited to try this product, because I have had negative reactions towards skincare products in the past, so was looking forward to seeing how a skincare device would fare. The device is a handheld tube which can use different heads and makes use of a patented Spinning Disc Technology. To summarise, this disc has aluminum oxide crystals and exfoliates without any manual scrubbing. The exfoliation removes dead skin cells and subsequently stimulates new cell growth, which is said to provide the skin with added vibrancy and softness.
The Personal Microderm also exhibits a ‘perfectly calibrated vacuum suction’, which physically sucks at the skin and therefore attracts the flow of blood to the skin’s surface. This increases the skin’s radiance, elastin and collagen, whilst leaving it taut. The action of tightening the skin reduces fine lines and evens the texture of the skin.
To start with, PMD recommend you use the white discs first. The white discs are smaller than the others and are ultra sensitive, which is ideal for when your skin meets this product for the first time. There are several types of discs you can buy, of different coarse levels - the kit includes blue discs (for sensitive skin) and green discs (for medium skin), alongside the aforementioned ultra sensitive white disc. Also included are two caps to accommodate the different widths of the discs.
Despite the device and the several types of discs and caps suggesting that the actual device might be somewhat complicated to use, it was relatively straightforward to get the hang of its usage. It is recommended that you clean your face before use, and during use, to pull your skin taut and move the device smoothly along the skin, in upward motions. Because of the intensity of the product, it is essential to move the device quickly on your skin and to not hover, which is a far cry from the hard efforts required when using body scrubs or polishes to exfoliate the skin, as these require a lot of physical labour to produce a noticeable effect.
Mainly I have noticed a reduction blemishes and a smoother, softer and more radiant complexion after using the Personal Microderm several times. My skin looks and feels clearer so I am looking forward to seeing what further use of the device will do for me. I feel that this is a revolutionary product and worth investing in, especially if you have sensitive skin. It has been effortless to incorporate this into my skincare regime, and my routine itself has since become more streamlined (and faster). I really do recommend this product as it is unlike anything else I have tried in terms of skincare.
The PMD Personal Microderm Kit is priced at £135.00.
