New Beauty Brand Alert - George Cosmetics

I love George at Asda Clothing, they fit my curves just right. On the contrary, I’ve never ever been curious to check out their cosmetics as I didn’t think they would have anything suitable for my skin tone. Then in September I attended the press preview for their new cosmetic collection.

Coming on the heels of Fenty Beauty, every new cosmetic launch was on scrutiny for inclusivity. The George Cosmetics collection impressed me. Granted the foundation and concealers didn’t go up to the darkest there were quite a few brownbeauty friendly products.  Based on customer feedback, the collection has 156 products and each product costs under £6. George Cosmetics’ new collection is some kind of wonderful.

There were PR, Buyers and Marketing personnel on hand at the press preview to respond to questions.  My question was; would George Cosmetics extend their foundations and concealers to darker shades? I was told they wanted to present the new collection first with a view to creating darker shades later but a release date was confirmed. Nonetheless, I was pleased with what I saw; lipsticks, lip glosses, eye shadows, highlighters and nail polishes galore. I decided to try two of their high pigment eye shadow cream and two matte lipsticks.

I have trialled George Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Hot Shot and Runway. Firstly, I can’t tell you how much I love the cuboid shape which is easily portable, good for gripping in a rush. The rose gold casing looks elegant and high end. The lipsticks are Vitamin E enriched.  They also glide on a like a dream; one swipe and the colour popped immediately.  They have a pleasant vanilla and coconutty smell.

Hot Shot is a pinkish-wine shade that’s very brownbeauty friendly. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received whenever I’ve worn it. So much so, I’ve become a lover of pink lips, which if you know me, I don’t often wear that colour.

Then there’s the show stopping Runway. What’s in a name eh?  If you love a sultry red lip but can’t stand the dryness that some matte red lipsticks can cause, Runway will steal your heart. It’s sexy but sophisticated and will take you from day into night. Both lipsticks were long-lasting.  Take it from me, the girl who loves her food will not pause to fuss about lipstick.

Brownbeauties looking for eye popping eye shadows for the festive season, George Cosmetics has got you. Their high pigment shadow creams are marvellous. I road tested Vintage and Peacock. Vintage is a bronzy colour and Peacock is like a deep metallic teal. They come in small glass pots. .

They are long wearing but I found I had better results when I applied them after primer. The colour was more vibrant and lasted hours. The two shades worked well together and could be used to build a signature statement eye look.

I will certainly be stocking up on more George Cosmetics items. They are wonderful products at an affordable price. I can hardly wait to see what the future holds for the collection.

George Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks are priced at £4.00 and the Eyeshadows are £3.00.
