MAC RED, RED, RED Collection

Its feel like it is now a regular occurrence for MAC to release a new collection. The latest is the RED, RED, RED collection which is a revamp on all their reds. This includes lipsticks, eye shadows and even nail lacquers. I recently tried out two products from the collection. A lipstick and a blush which are pigmented enough and show up on dark skin. The Lipstick in 5 Alarm is described as a soft orange red and that is exactly what it is. When it comes to red lipsticks from MAC, most women opt for Russian Red or Ruby Woo because they believe the blue(ish) reds are more suited to the our skin-tone. However, both those lipsticks lack moisture. The lustre and sheer, yet bold coverage of the 5 Alarm lipstick means it is a red that should be considered by women of colour.  Although it may not have the long lasting finish that its matte counterparts possess.

If you are looking for a jack of all trades type of product then your search is over. MAC Casual Colour can be used on both cheeks and lips. I tested out this product in the shade, Secret Admirer and fell head over heels for it. Described as a 'coral pink' this colour is perfect for the coming season. The added Vitamin E helps keep lips and skin nourished. Plus it has a lightweight creamy finish that blends well when applied. Regardless of skin tone, this product is vibrantly visible. I mean look at the swatch. Absolutely stunning.
