MAC Playland Collection

Over the years, I have become a beauty addict. Others might call me a beauty hoarder but each to their own. I often hear or read about products and then buy into the hype only for them to end up in my bathroom cupboard or storage after one or two use. That was the not the case with the new collection from MAC called Playland. The clue is in the name really. A playful collection full of bold bright colours that we Women of Colour (WoC) often run away from due to fear of looking to conspicuous. We darker skinned women often find it hard to find make up that actually shows on on our skins and when we do we stick to it like glue. The MAC Playland is what I will describe as a god send for brown beauties. The incredibly pigmented range of products like the pigment loose powder means product will definitely be visible on darker skin tones. I got a chance to try out two lip products from the range and here are the results. If you are on the look out for a subtle (almost natural) red lipstick and are not a fan of mattes, sheer or satin finish then Head in The Clouds is for you. The frost finish lipstick is a brownish red that is suitable for everyday wear with just one coat. I personally didn't like it because of how shimmery it was (I am more of a matte finish kinda girl).

When I received the Live it Up lipglass I was scared. I saw the bold orange and was like "no I cannot wear this." Lets just say don't judge a book by its cover because it was nothing like I thought it would be. The now sold out creamy orange lipglass goes well with any lipstick you may have in your collection. I used it whilst wearing MAC's Ruby Woo for a subtle sheen and loved the result. It lasted a good few hours and wasn't sticky. It is very thick though so one coat was enough. The Chromagraphic Pencil looks great especially if you are into your bold dramatic make up. Blue Lipstick anyone?

MAC Playland Collection is now available in stores and online. The Lipglass is £14.00 and the Lipstcik is £15.00. For more information, please visit MAC Cosmetics.
