MAC Philip Treacy Collection

MAC’s latest collection, namely the Philip Treacy collection, is a collaboration between the cosmetics giant and London’s leading couture hat designer, Irish-born milliner Philip Treacy himself. His headwear creations have graced the heads of the elite and famous, and it's the boldness of his designs that make him truly compatible with MAC. The styles of his pieces frame and enhance the facial structure, which is what the products in this collection hope to achieve. I tried a few products from the collection, starting off with two lipsticks, namely No Faux Pas and Cardinal. No Faux Pas is a hot, vivid pink, with a satin finish that leaves a slight sheen on the lips. I like No Faux Pas as it's a lip shade which you see often on the Red Carpet in the summer months, and is also a shade which would flatter everybody.

The vivaciousness of the pink is attractive and striking. The formulation is slightly creamy and moderately hydrating, and completely soft to wear. Cardinal is a medium burgundy red and with a matte finish and formulation. Despite being matte, it's not at all drying and is easy to wear. This shade is a definite classic but with a modern appeal and is very versatile with a slight blue undertone. I find that both lipsticks last a long time and give a near-full opacity and high definition finish.

The highlight powder is something of a beauty. I tried it in shade Nude Pink. It embodies a 3D art-deco design, the 3D nature of which is particularly on trend in the beauty industry this season. Rather interestingly, it incorporates a medium silver colour which you can see makes an impact despite being outweighed by the light coral pink. Together, they create a unique highlight effect on the face.

The coral nude pink lends to a warm look and I skip blush when wearing it because the highlight powder alone gives a nice, subtle glow of colour. The powder form is thin, meaning you don't get any noticeable flecks of glitter on the face or excessive shine, instead achieving a lit-from-within glow that enhances the features of the face in true Philip Treacy style.

This product is very subtle on shimmer and glitter, which serves to make it unique to other highlighters, and is definitely one to try if you have oily skin and shy away from highlighters. This highlight powder has a good longevity and keeps the strength of it's luminescence for a number of hours and photographs well.

This time, this limited edition collection from MAC is completely focused on substance, leaving any unique packaging for another day and collection. The dedication to the quality of each product shows, as each product I tried does an excellent job. The lipsticks and highlight powder used together create a sharp, polished look and are great on all skin tones.
