LOLA Spirited Away Collection

LOLA is a British designed Spanish brand that retails from Marks and Spencer and has been a real success in their beauty hall. It is both disappointing and frustrating however that this range only has six complexion shades which do not cater for all ethnicities. However, LOLA does have a wide variety of colour products with a good level of pigmentation. I was sent the Spirited Away Collection to try out. The satin finish eye shadows have an iridescence rather than a shimmer or glitter which make them easy to wear. The colour is buildable and the texture is very very smooth with no fall out. Shade 13 is a peachy gold and is a beautiful warm (but not too yellow) shade for a clean eye look or to highlight the inner corner of the eye and under the brow. Shade 35 is a cool icy blue which would be great as part of a smoky blue eye or for an editorial bold eye look.

The liquid lipstick 004 in pink is a mid tone with a touch of brown. It is in a brush application which pushes the lipstick out through the brush by rotating the bottom of the tube. The shade did not suit me but the colour dries to a semi matte finish. It is not the longest lasting lip colour but it will survive delicate cake eating and drinking.

My favourite product from the collection is the automatic pencil in 005 Green. A very brown girl friendly rich verdant shade. The texture is soft enough to blend across the whole lid either as a base for your eye shadow or just worn as a wash of intense colour on the lid. It is also firm enough to do a graphic liner look and it comes with a pencil sharpener to ensure precise application. Love it

The Liquid Lipstick is priced at £12, the eyeshadow at £10 and the Automatic Pencil at £10. LOLA is available to buy from the Marks and Spencer website.
