LOLA Makeup IT Girl Collection
The collection from LOLA Makeup for this season is the IT Girl Collection, inspired by the 60’s and 70’s downtown New York, it has a dazzling palette of rich textures and shades. From the collection I received the Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in the shade 100 Vamp, Lip gloss in shade 020 Purple and Automatic Eye Liner Pencil in Black 001. The lipstick in 100 Vamp is, as you can imagine is a dark berry shade, it’s touted to be lightweight, long wearing with a colour rich pigment and intense coverage. It’s enriched with vitamin E and jojoba oil so for a matte lipstick it has a creamy texture that glides on to the lips and packs one hell of a pigment. It’s not drying on the lips nor overtly moisturising, so lips still need to be well prep.
I found that this product was extremely lightweight and has excellent staying power, it’s typical of the shades you seeing during the winter season, but I love a good vampy shade - who doesn’t right? If a berry shade is not your cup of tea however, there are five other shades in this formula, and I also have the shade 102 dominatrix which is a bold raspberry red shade. I love both these shades, and if you love a matte lip, you have to try these.
The lip gloss in the shade 020, it’s said to be packed with Hyaluronic Acid and an active vitamin complex to help condition lips for a smooth non sticky finish. It’s basically a clear gloss with lots of varying shades of pink iridescent sparkle shot through, it’s comfortable on the lips, and is paraben and alcohol free. This can be layered over lipstick, and gives the aforementioned lipsticks a more satin finish or worn alone for lips that sparkle as they catch the light. Very pretty for the party season, or someone that doesn’t like bold lips, but still wants lips to stand out.
Then there’s the Automatic Pencil in Black 001, it’s a slim retractable eye liner pencil with a sharpener on the end, and is nicely pigmented. This has great staying power on the lids, but be careful when applied in the waterline, it has a tendency to run slightly. It comes in five shades and is fragrance, paraben and alcohol free.
I also have an Eye Pencil in the shade 006 Hot Pink, which are pencil eyeliners with a smudge sponge on the end. These are said to be medium soft pencils that glides on smoothly for easy application and good coverage. I found this shade not particularly pigmented, and actually tugged at the eye as I was trying to apply it, but to be honest I’m not sure when I would wear this shade of pink as an eyeliner anyway. It's fragrance, paraben and alcohol free and also dermatologically tested.
Finally I have two single eye shadows in shades 039 Pink and 010 Pink, yea not at all confusing! 010 pink is a very pale satin finish pink shade that works great to brighten the inner corner of the eyes, in any eye shadow look. 039 is a bright matte baby doll pink that is highly pigmented, for a pop of colour on the lids. These eye shadows have silicon particles for good staying power and to prevent creasing, and emollient oils for a silky feel. Again fragrance, paraben and alcohol free.
The lip products and eye shadows are the stand outs for the pieces I received, but if you’re going to try one item it’ll have to be the matte lipsticks. The lipstick retails for £12, the lip gloss, eyeliners and eye shadows are £10 each,
