Le Couvent des Minimes Cologne of Love

Le Couvent des Minimes is a hotel and spa in the South of France, and they also make skincare, bodycare and cologne products. They have a rich history which is translated into their products. I tried the Eau Aimable Cologne, which is also known as the Botanical Cologne of Love. The aspect of Love pays tribute to the love and ‘devotion of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary’, who, in the early 1900’s, made the convent their home and cared for it and its other residents. This Cologne is described as being ‘fragrant water’, which makes it quite versatile and different to a standard perfume or cologne. The first thing to note is that this Cologne can be used two ways - you can apply it directly from the bottle onto your body after showering, or you can spray it onto your skin during the day. For the first method of application, Le Couvent des Minimes suggests you make use of the screw top, for liberal pouring, and for the second method, there is a spray top, so there are two bottle tops included for your choice. The bottle is a simple cylindrical shape - it has a paper label, the aesthetics and feel of which add to the historical appeal of this fragrance.

The fragrance is an original recipe and contains five carefully selected plants; Orange Blossom (a source of softness), Bergamot and Mandarin (sources of serenity), Wild Rose (a source of hydration), Nasturtium (a source of radiance) and Petitgrain (a source of harmony). The scent of the Orange Blossom is quite dominant and for me is the most noticeable of the five plants, followed by Mandarin. Eau Aimable is light-orange in colour and smells very orange-like (but only in the most pleasant way) and zesty too.

I really like the fruity scent and find it particularly appropriate for Spring. I prefer to use this as a spray. The consistency is thicker than a normal perfume and lasts for quite a while. I’m overall impressed with the Cologne of Love, and with the excellent value it provides.

Le Couvent des Minimes Cologne of Love is priced at £19.00 for 100ml.
