Huda Beauty New Nude Eyeshadow Palette
The Huda Beauty New Nude Eyeshadow Palette is gorgeous, although it is not my nude. I am golden brown with rosy cheeks and the palette gives me mauve and taupe vibes with a splash of bronze. I think that the aim was to make it suitable for everyday wear by making it complementary to your skin rather than variations on skin colour.
At a first glance, perhaps the purples as the mainly deeper shades were thought of as best for darker skin tones and the peaches best for lighter skin. The one thing that stood out for me is that there didn’t seem to be a shade deep enough to be an eyeliner or crease shade, especially on darker skin.
The palette is made of pink and rose gold cardboard with a large mirror. It has a luxury feel to it. The pressed glitters apply well using a rubber applicator or fingers but there is fallout. I didn’t try them with a glitter glue.
The multi-reflective shades give a textured, wet-look, high shine and I don't have anything else like them. The texture is not the same as in the pan - the colours blend together, making them much more wearable. Kinky, the only pressed pearl shade, is gorgeously creamy and very pigmented.
The concealer base helps the eyeshadows to adhere and is a nice addition if you tend to forget to apply your eyeshadow base, which I do regularly. The matte shades are very soft so there is a lot of fallout but for the most part they are also incredibly easy to blend so I don't mind. The smallest amount is needed and can be built upon if desired. The darkest matte shades don't swatch very well, but they applied better on my lids which is what matters.
Love Bite and Spanked took a little more work than the others but I persevered because they are so pretty. Bare is far too pale for me to do much with so Play was a better highlighter shade. All the matte shades make good bases for the pearls and glitters. I found that most of the shades looked pink or red on me.
The glitters and multi-reflective shades make this palette. They take the palette's soft look to the next level and I love sparkly things. The textures are fun to play with and the concealer base is a nice touch. The deeper shades are flattering but an even deeper shade or two would have been nice as an eyeliner and to make it better suited to skin tones darker than mine. Having said that, I nearly always use a separate gel eyeliner so it's not a deal-breaker for me.
I really enjoyed using this palette. I would have purchased this as I was missing a pink palette from my collection and the sparkle and shine is too beautiful for me to resist.
