Heaven Skincare

Therapist turned brand owner Deborah Mitchell has created Heaven Skincare which is a range of organic and natural skincare that is used both in salons like the prestigious Hale Clinic in London and by consumers at home. The range is pretty extensive covering skin challenges like Psoriasis and excezma, and there is a mens range as well as a variety of products for dry and oily skin types. Deborah’s aromatherapy background is evident in her range as the products are not only recommended by skin type but also for the emotions that they support. I tried out their Orange Flower Cell Renewal HydrogelClarifying Serum and SOS Oil Serum. Orange Flower Cell Renewal Hydrogel Firstly what’s a hydrogel? It’s just another way of describing a water based gel. The neroli in the hydrogel is said to promote emotional strength and as well as being said to promote cell renewal and collagen promotion to pigment scar repair. I didn’t find that my scarring was repaired but I did enjoy using the product.

The packaging is lovely – rotate the top and the pump pops out of the top. One pump is enough for the whole face. The gel is cool (especially if you keep it in the fridge) and as the heat of your skin warms it up the texture loosens, it dries matte and does not leave a tacky residue. Heaven advise that you can use this product as a toner or a moisturiser primer. I found it worked well as hydrating toner after an acid toner/acid pads or over a moisturisers as a primer. It formed a great base for makeup without having a silicone texture.

SOS Oil Serum Blended facial oils in the Heaven range are called Oil Serums. The SOS Oil Serum is a carrot oil base. Carrot oil is not used much in skincare but it is great for the skin as it has high levels of beta carotene (a powerful anti-oxidant) as well as vitamins C and E. The blend also contains calendula extract, another anti-oxidant power house with grapeseed oil, sunflower oil and olive oil. If your skin is a bit off kilter or needs nourishment this oil works a treat.

Clarifying Oil This product is great, it minimised my hormonal breakouts, meaning I had to use less spot cream to deal with a minor breakout and it did so without drying my skin out. Cedarwood Oil is a great spot buster as it is anti sebhorric, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. It also has sandalwood (anti-inflammatory,) calendula extract (anti-oxidant) and rosehip (regenerating) so it smells lovely too.

I was really impressed with both of these oils. They are beautifully packaged in glass bottles and the product is dispensed with a pipette. The oils blend into the skin and can be added to moisturisers or facial masks for an added boost. If your skin loves a facial oil, you will love these.

The Hydrogral is priced at £19.00 for 30ml. The SOS and Clarifying Oil Serums are £30.24 for 15ml
