Following the shadow crayon trend are GOSH’s new Forever Eye Shadow Matt. These are described as ‘providing long lasting matte colour experience in just one stroke. Creamy, velvet soft eye shadow sticks with a result lasting for up to eight hours without creasing, flaking or fading. With an exceptionally smooth texture, it glides effortlessly over the eyelid and sets with an even finish’. I tried two shades, namely Twisted Brown and Dark Brown. Twisted Brown is the lighter of the two, and is a medium brown tinged with grey, delivering a cool-toned ‘greige’ and an ideal neutral base shade for the eyelids. Dark Brown is precisely that, and although it’s not dark enough to use as an eyeliner, it provides subtle definition to the frames of the eyes. The two shades complement each other well and can be used together to give a sophisticated alternative to a common black smoky eye.

I’m usually hesitant with eyeshadow sticks because they’re usually hard to apply in spite of their projected convenience, tending to drag or pull on the eyelids as you apply it. This Eye Shadow Matt has a really smooth, hydrating texture that applies effortlessly. It provides you with enough playtime before it dries and sets, making it super easy to blend with the skin and with other eyeshadows. It possesses an extreme level of pigment and is completely opaque, which surprises me because it’s a lot more affordable than others I’ve tried which haven’t had a payoff as good.

Worn alone, the Forever Eye Shadow Matt lasts for roughly six hours before showing signs of creasing or fading, however when worn on top of an eyeshadow primer it can last a lot longer. The format of the eyeshadow stick is very convenient too, with a twistable format and no need for sharpening. Overall, I feel that this product performs really well and are pleasantly affordable and convenient to use.

GOSH Forever Eye Shadow Matt is priced at £6.29.
