Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil

The Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil is the first adult Dermalogica product I have tried. The science of this oil is impressive. It has a three-stage process to replenish the "protective lipids that are depleted by ageing and environmental stress".  I live, work and socialise in city environments so no doubt my skin is pretty battered by pollution, as well as the random British weather.  I therefore had high hopes for this oil.

The three steps with key ingredients are:

  1. Camelia and Tamanu oils to restore the skin's natural barrier.
  2. Orchid flower and Chia Seed Oil to smooth lines and locks in moisture.
  3. Sunflower,  rice bran and rosemary extracts to "create a luminous antioxidant shield" protecting the skin from those nasty free radicals.

This oil is recommended for daily use for those with normal or dry skin. I particularly like that it is free from artificial fragrance as I never know how my skin will react to perfumed products. It's also free from artificial colours and parabens.

I love facial oils as I have dry skin. I massaged the Phyto Replenish Oil in to my skin day and night (as instructed in the information leaflet), for just over four weeks. When I didn't properly massage it in along the natural contours of my face, I didn't feel as much of the benefit. It seems that to get results from skincare, you have to put in a little work too. It was a brilliant way to start and end the day. A lot of the time, I gave myself two or three mini face massages. I felt less stressed in general and I'm sure my skin was feeling the relief too.

I didn't always use moisturiser (although instructed to do so) which was ok at night but was needed in the day which is fine, because the oil is made to be layered.  As stated on the box, it is indeed feather light.  It claims to rapidly absorb and it did.  It says it does these things to "reinforce the skin's protective barrier” but I don’t think I can test that.

During testing, I received numerous compliments on my skin, giving validation that this oil was making a noticeable difference. I personally noticed the change about a week into using it so you have to be a little patient. At first, it was just nice to massage in the oil then over time my skin started feeling more supple and was visibly brighter. I looked quite healthy and my skin had a lovely natural glow. It gave me so much skin confidence that I stopped wearing makeup for a while and when I did wear foundation, it was the absolute minimum, focussing on my nose and cheeks and simply using the excess on the brush for my forehead and chin.

That confidence is worth paying for, especially as my current beauty mission is to view skincare as an investment. I will be putting the Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil on my "to buy" list.

Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil is priced at £67.00 but I think it is worth every penny.
