They say that your eyes are the windows to your face and what better way to emphasise them than by using eyeshadow. As well as coming in different shapes and sizes, you can get them in powder and cream. Enter Clarins Ombre Matte which is a cream-to-powder formula that gives you the comfort and smoothing effect of a cream along with the fine quality and hold of a powder. They contain Bamboo powder which gives a matte and even finish with long-lasting hold that promises to stay put from morning to night. The shadows are very light in texture and really easy to apply. The pigmentation is very deep and the silkiness allows you room for error in case your brush goes astray. There are six shades to choose from - Nude Beige, Nude Rose, Rosewood, Taupe, Sparkle Grey and Taupe. The colours range from a pinky and beige nude to smokey browns and greys. You can combine a couple of the shades to create various versions of the smoky eye.

The products are really easy on the eye and are housed in a small plastic pot with a gold lid. which is very light and can be thrown into your makeup bag. I applied this shadow at lunchtime and when I took it off at 11pm it was still on. The colour had faded slightly but it was still very noticeable. Also as easy it was to go on it was just as easy to remove with an eye makeup remover. As much as I love my eye makeup I do love to use something that is easy to apply which is why my stash is full of eye pencils but these products will be making its way into my collection.

If you are not fond of eye pencils and don't want to invest in a palette in case there are colours you do not like then you really should give Ombre Matte a look. The price is a bit hefty for £19 for one colour but you will only need a tiny amount to make a statement. A little really does go a long way.

Clarins Ombre Matte is priced at £19.
