Clarins Lip Definer

It’s not always easy finding the perfect nude lip liner. Firstly there’s the actual shade and trying to find a nude that is fitting, and then it can be a task to find a lip liner that’s not drying on the lips. Clarins’ Lip Definers comes in four shades to suit a wide range of skin tones and lipsticks. According to the French brand, this perfectly gliding pencil redefines the lip contour with an ultra-precise line and improves lipstick wear. Enriched with Jojoba oil, its formula provides the lips with suppleness and comfort. I tested two of the four shades, 02 Nude Beige and 03 Nude Rose. Nude Rose is the perfect nude for my skin tone, a medium-dark caramel with a touch of pink. Nude Beige would be great on olive skin tones. The Lip Definer has a buttery soft formula that applies smoothly to the lips. I tested the Lip Liners for lengthy periods at a time and found that, unlike other Lip Liners I’ve tried, they stay in place and have a good longevity, keeping the lips defined without a need to touch up.

The formula of these Lip Definers are surprisingly soft, almost with a subtle cream sheen, and don’t cause the lips to cake or become dry - this is what I feel sets Clarins’ Lip Liners apart from the rest. They also don’t drag on the skin, making it easy to apply on the entire lip area rather than just the natural lip line. Both shades I’ve tried make great colours to wear alone, as well as with a complementary lip colour.

Overall, I feel that Clarins have produced a reliable and handy set of Lip Liners with their range of nude Lip Definers, although I’d like to see the inclusion of a darker shade or two.

Clarins Lip Definers are priced at £17.00.
