Clarins Autumn Collection
So it’s that time of year when we see all the gorgeous deep dark sultry moody colours coming out in makeup. Put away the bright orange lipstick and pastel eyeshades and embrace the dark side. Actually you can wear whatever shades you want, whenever you want, but we all know the Autumn/Winter 15 (A/W15) format by now, and a deep burgundy lip and nail is one of my favourite looks so I embrace it with open arms. So what is Clarins offering for A/W15 then? Well there’s a limited edition 5-Colour Palette Pretty Day, two new Ombre Matte Cream-to-Powder Eyeshadows, New Eyebrow Pencils in three shades, two new Kohl Eyeliners called Crayon Kohl and two new shades of the Rouge Eclat Lipstick. I received an Eyebrow Pencil, both Ombre Matte Cream to Powder Eyeshadows, 1 Crayon Kohl Eyeliner and one of the Rouge Eclat Lipsticks.
The Ombre Matte Eyeshadows have a very different texture to the usual cream eyeshadows I own, they are more moose like, but quite dry. The colours for the A/W15 collection are 07 Carbon, a deep dark black that would be great for a smokey eye and 08 Heather which is a weird greige (grey beige) colour, that personally I’m not sure how to wear. These matte eyeshadows have great staying power on my normal lids and are super easy to apply, they also make a great base for other eyeshadows.
The Eyebrow Pencil in dark brown is great, it’s got quite a soft texture and requires regular sharpening to keep a point - like most pencils. It lasted all day on me and the cool toned brown was a great shade for my brows plus the added spoily on the end is a perfect addition to groom brows.
The Crayon Kohl is a super soft eyeliner that glides over the waterline and is really pigmented. I received the shade 01 Carbon Black and the addition of the natural haired brush on the other end means creating gorgeous smokey smudged looks is a cinch.
Last but by no means least is the Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Red Paprika, firstly the gold packaging is gorgeous. I thought this was going to be a straight up cool toned red, I was wrong, it’s a stunning unusual red, with brown/orange and red undertones, that is very flattering. I think it’s a great shade for someone who doesn’t usually wear red lipstick, but wants to try. It’s pigmented with the addition of plant waxes like Mimosa, Jojoba and Sunflower, which help it glide over lips. It also has something called the Nutri-Youth Complex that protects against dehydration and boosts collagen, while Vitamin E fights against free radicals.
The Eyebrow Pencil and Eyeliner are priced at £17.00 each, the Ombre Matte Eyeshadow is £19.00 and the Rouge Eclat Lipstick is £19.50.
