Cantu Natural Hair Collection

I first heard of Cantu after an internship at Pride Magazine years ago. The fashion and beauty editor Shevelle Rhule, gave me a tub of Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream which many natural hair mavens swear by. In fact, since then, I too swear by it. I was so excited when I was asked to trial products from their natural hair care collection because I love the brand. Their natural hair care collection is as the name suggests, products formulated for those who choose to wear their hair in its natural state. The range consists of 11 products and I got to try out quite a few of them. However, this review will cover the top five. Up first is the Coconut Curling Cream which apart from the Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream is by far the best product in the collection for many reasons. One, its rich and creamy plus it smells lovely. Two, it does exactly what it say it would. Three - well there are just too many reasons to write down. I have very thick sometimes stubborn 4C hair which means styling is often a daunting task. What this products did to my hair was miraculous. My curls were defined, hair was left feeling soft and moisturised. I particular like using the product to moisturise my two strand twists before taking them out.

Next up are the Cantu Sulphate Free Cleansing Cream Shampoo and Cantu Moisturising Rinse Out Conditioner which I have actually been using prior to this review. I particularly liked how after using the two, my hair felt clean but not as if I washed the life out of it. Although, I don't opt for wash-n-go as a styling option, I think these two will work well for those who do.

Jack of all Trades, Master of None is definitely not the case when it comes to the Cantu products in this collection. Each product does exactly what it says it would. Some far too well. Here is an example; the Moisturising Twist and Lock Gel states thats it should be used on wet hair. Well, I was in a hurry one day and thought I could get away with using it on slightly damp hair. The next day, I went to take out my twists, what I was left with was extremely flaky and stiff hair. (See picture on my Instagram.)

What I love the most about Cantu is that their products are as natural as can be. No parabens, sulfates, silicone, paraffins and so on. I also like that the products work hand in hand. Its exciting to see that the brand is now readily available in many UK stores.
