Buxom Full-On Lip Polish
Buxom Cosmetics is an established brand in the USA but has recently come to the UK. It is a brand where bigger is always better, as you might have guessed from the name.
I remember when I first heard of lip-plumping glosses when I was at school in the 90s. I was too scared to try them then as I didn’t know how they worked. That, and I was content with the lip-plumping illusion of standard clear lipgloss.
When the Buxom Full-On Lip Polish came into brownbeautytalk HQ, I jumped at the chance to try it, especially as my thin lips thinned further with age and Buxom is a brand I really wanted to try.
Buxom's website says the Full-On Lip Polish helps lips to reach their full potential. It also says it's a high-shine gloss which tingles to coax a gorgeous pout while pampering and moisturising lips with Vitamins A and E.
It contains peptides and hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen, build volume and plump to perfection - without irritation. That's a lot of promises and I wanted to benefit from them all.
The Full-On Lip Polish comes in 100 shades in three finishes - shine, shimmer and glitter. I was sent April, which I would describe as a peachy-pink shimmer. On application, it gently tingles and cools and is very shiny. I have loads of lines on my lips and this lip polish makes my lips look smoother and fuller as promised. When the tingle starts to fade, so does the plumping effect and the shine so another application is needed.
The gloss lasts well for around one hour and I could push it to around two hours without eating or drinking before really needed to re-apply. I might need to re-apply more often than others as when the product starts to dry and fade, the glitter particles settle in the lines of my lips which doesn't look so great.
It has a sweet scent which I will describe as a vanilla-caramel. You will need to be a fan of glosses if you are going to like this as regular re-application is needed to keep the full-lip look going. I love gloss so that, and the stickiness is no problem for me.
It is comfortable to wear, and I didn’t find it irritating but those with sensitive skin should do a patch test before wearing.
As for being brownbeauty friendly, the product seems to be, but the shade April, possibly not. I have dark lips and the gloss is pale and very sheer so while I can make it work, I think a slight deeper colour would be better.
This product delivered on its promises so although this was not the shade for me, I would be willing to try another shade (or three!) preferably one without glitter or shimmer.
