Balance Me Collagen Boost Collection

New from Balance Me is the Collagen Boost Collection. This range is all about the collagen and elastin which are two components of the skin which give it structure and elasticity. One of the first signs of the ageing process occurs when elasticity is lost and the skin loses its structure or becomes saggy, so Balance Me are not the first brand to target this area. The brand has done this by using amino acids (which are the building blocks of protein) and peptides (which are a type of protein) to fortify the skin’s collagen and elastin. Balance Me is a free from brand so that peptides and amino acids have a natural rather than synthetic source, it also has hyaluronic acid. There are currently two products in the range. Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser I am a huge fan of cleansing balms and oils but before that I was a devotee of a cleansing cream. I really wish it came in a pump dispenser rather than a tube but that is just me being picky. I double cleanse so when going in for a second round with this product, wet hands are a bit of a pain. With that aside, the cleanser itself has a beautifully rich texture. If shea butter cleansers are a problem for you then this product is not for you but my skin enjoys the sweet almond oil and shea butter mix.

This product works well to remove make up but not mascara (despite Balance Me saying you can, my Illamasqua mascara did not budge) so I go in with a micellar water first. Going in the first time, this cleanser has good slip so you can remove long lasting foundation easily and get a good face massage the second time round. A cream cleanser is not my preferred texture for a morning cleanse but it does leaves the skin clean and not stripped. It contains a low concentration of essential oils which give a very subtle fragrance to the product. Despite the majority citrus notes in the blend (bergamot pettitgrain mandarin) and heavy weight herbs (rosemary and lavender) the blend is sweet floral to my nose.

Restore and Replenish Face Cream This product has the same ingredient profile as the cleanser and is recommended for use day and night. It has a pump (hurrah) and three pumps covers my face and décolleté (there is a lot of me!) Fragrance wise this smells quite different to the cleanser - much more herbaceous. The texture is a bit rich from the glycerine and dog rose oil and it absorbs into the skin quite quickly and does not leave a film. Makeup lovers will be glad to know that it creates a good base as well as leaving the skin moisturised and nourished. If you are not a fan of an emollient face cream then this is for you. If you like something rich on your face, the addition of one drop of face oil will help. This is a great combo for autumn. It would be great if Balance Me could come up with a hyaluronic acid based toner for the range.

Balance Me Collagen Boost Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser is priced at £18.00 with the Face Cream at £40.00.
